STYRAX BENZOIN (SUMATRA) (STYRAX. SPP.)
The essential oil is a balsamic resin, almost solid at room temperature, this yellow/red brown Essential Oil is grown in Sumatra and Siam. Like most wood resins this Essential Oil is a skin preservative, useful in skin care preparations. Styrax is also an antiseptic, diuretic, expectorant, and a mild stimulant; the aroma is very relaxing.
PRINCIPAL CONSTITUENTS: Benzoic acid, benzoresinol, siaresinotannol, vanillin, styrol, styracin, phenyl-prophyl.
